More than 20 people will face court on drug-related charges next month after a mammoth police operation at Brownlow Hill’s Secret Garden music festival.
Police allege cocaine, ecstasy, LSD and cannabis were present at the two-day event, with illegal drugs detected on more than 60 occasions.
Camden PAC crime manager detective chief inspector Shane Woolbank told the Chronicle the level of drug-use was “disappointing”.
“We are disappointed with the amount of drugs that were detected,” he said.
“Unfortunately, drug use at these festivals is not an uncommon thing.”
“The amount of drugs that were located (at Secret Garden) was concerning, especially considering the warnings around drug usage at the festival.”
One festival-goer was taken to hospital, and has since been discharged.
“Drugs are likely to have been a factor in this case,” a NSW Health spokeswoman said.
Twenty-five people were issued criminal infringement notices and 20 cannabis cautions were delivered.
Police also charged eight motorists with drink driving and 20 people tested positive to driving under the influence of drugs.
Three people were charged with drug supply, including a 27-year-old woman from the ACT, a 32-year-old woman from Croydon and a 22-year-old man from Darlington.
The Darlington man was allegedly found in possession of 32 LSD tabs, three tablets believed to contain dexamphetamine and a capsule believed to contain MDMA on Saturday afternoon.
All three will appear at Picton Local Court next month.
