A Minto man accused of shooting a teenager with a silver revolver in Ambarvale last month has appeared briefly at Campbelltown Local Court this morning.
Matofa Alofia, 20, who had a small group of supporters inside Campbelltown Court House, appeared by audio visual link from Parklea Correctional Centre in the brief mention in front of Magistrate Ian Guy.
Alofia was arrested on May 20 and charged with three offences including discharge firearm likely to injure a person, possession of an unauthorised pistol and possession of an unregistered/prohibited firearm.
Police allege Alofia fired a silver revolver while he was a passenger in a motor vehicle in the early hours of May 19 and had no regard for the safety of the 17 year old victim.
The teenage victim was admitted to Campbelltown Hospital with a gun shot wound to his right upper arm and was later transferred to Liverpool Hospital to undergo surgery.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Ramage told the court the matter had been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions, but had not yet received a response.
The matter will return to Campbelltown Local Court on June 19.
Alofia did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
