Sydney’s newest entertainment precinct is coming to Menangle Park with the $10 million development of Club Menangle heralding the start of something special.
The start of construction signals the first stage of Club Menangle’s bold plan to deliver an exciting entertainment precinct, complete with a multistorey hotel and indoor entertainment complex.
A ten-pin bowling alley, go kart track, minigolf facility are all possibilities to feature in the entertainment precinct, as well as a health club and child care facilities.
The precinct would act as the gateway to Club Menangle’s Tabcorp Park, home of harness racing in NSW.
Club Menangle chief executive Bruce Christison told the Macarthur Chronicle the precinct would be a “destination venue”, attracting visitors from all over Sydney.
“We want to encourage people to come out to the region and stay,” he said.
“We have a lot to offer and as the population continues to spread out this way, we believe all these entertainment offerings could be brought under the one precinct.”
Despite Menangle Park currently being home to less than 350 people, about 10,000 new residents are expected to call Menangle Park home in the next 15 years.
The historic Horse and Jockey Inn will be refurbished into what will be known as Club Menangle, featuring a range of dining options, bars, indoor and outdoor kids’ playgrounds, sports bar and a picturesque rural backdrop.
The historic Menangle House, located on the site, will be integrated into the venue in a future development with suggestions it could become a whiskey bar.
Mr Christison said the club had been designed with families at front of mind.
“We are certainly all about community,” he said. “We wanted to make sure the club was keeping in with the area — a place where people who already love this area and its scenery could come and enjoy.
“The new venue will include all the features of a modern registered club but will maintain the natural beauty of the area with the amazing backdrop of the surrounding hills and the historic gardens on the site.
“We are really excited that we have the right blend.”
A wedding-inspired function room, complete with bridal retreat, will also feature at the Club Menangle site.
About $1 million has been dedicated to landscaping the expansive garden network of the future Club Menangle.
Plans for the entertainment precinct’s hotel accommodation are expected to be lodged in the next 12 months.
