A unique one-stop shop of leading medical practitioners for the Macarthur region has opened in Gregory Hills.

SOMA Wellness, a $25 million high-end health hub, is designed to remove inner-city travel and improve the healthcare experience for the district.

The 4400sq m hub, located on Gregory Hills Drive, includes a GP practice, dental super clinic, physiotherapy, pathology, chiropractor, radiology, hearing practice and more.

Smiles Unlimited owner Nabil Matti said it was an easy decision to invest and join the emerging “health capital” of the region.

“It is about bringing to Gregory Hills what people you would get travelling to the city,” Mr Matti said. “The variety here and the richness of the experience is something that’s unique.”

Providence Medical Group’s Mark Caldwell, who operates a large GP practice in SOMA Wellness, said the proximity between medical practitioners allowed for a comfortable experience.

Development of SOMA began two years ago.

“Say we have a patient who fractured their ankle,” he said. “We would be able to get straight to an X-ray. When they come back we straight away review their findings and refer them to a physio upstairs.”

Renowned restaurateur Antonio Tarzia, known for signature Wetherill Park restaurant Grano, has recently launched the Adriatic Coast-inspired bar and restaurant Peca.

Sourcing local seasonal produce, Mr Tarzia said he promised the restaurant would activate the region’s culinary senses.

“I thought it would be great to create something for Gregory Hills which is a little bit more up-market,” he said. “A place where you can enjoy a spritz, a cocktail, some seafood or woodfire food, without having to travel to the city.

“SOMA Wellness was the perfect spot for this.”
