MACARTHUR Disability Services participants had some very special Prince Harry and Meghan time at the Sydney Opera House.
Twenty-seven service participants and staff were invited into the VIP area last Tuesday week for a visit by the royals.
MDS marketing manager Caitlin Pearson said the very lucky group was in the front row. “Everyone received a hug or a handshake and one client also passed on a friendship bracelet,” Ms Pearson said. “They were on cloud 9 and grinning from ear to ear. “
She said the special invitation emanated from a request several months ago from Invictus Games organisers asking to borrow the services’ trailer of wheelchairs to assess and work on transport arrangements for the Games.
“The organisers wanted to test the transport and also work out how long it would take to get from one place to another,” Ms Pearson said.
“Then last week they called up and asked if we’d like to go into the VIP area to meet Harry and Meghan.”
Ms Pearson said the service participants were besotted with the royals. “When Harry and Meghan got married we had a high tea to celebrate at Gledswood. They all got glammed up and had a great time,” Ms Pearson said.
