The inner workings of a well-oiled dial-a-dealer syndicate have been laid bare as a drug runner confessed to his role in the lucrative trade.

Between July 26 and November 18 last year, Jason Mark Wilson would courier bags of cocaine in a BMW to customers in suburbs such as Kirribilli, St Leonards and Marrickville as directed by a 21-year-old man monitoring the syndicate’s ‘order’ phone.

Following the 35-year-old man’s plea of guilty to drug supply at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, the mechanisms of the criminal enterprise have been revealed.

Wilson, of Campbelltown, was one of four drug runners who would begin each shift collecting their stock of illegal powder at a Greenacre home, court documents state.

The dealers were unaware police officers were watching the address after having the drug order phone lawfully tapped as part of the investigation.

The couriers would spend a few minutes at the Greenacre address before being bossed about town by a 21-year-old who controlled the order phone. Court documents state the phone would receive messages from customers asking for ‘beers’ or ‘bags’, with the young man then relaying the order to the drivers via an encrypted messaging service.

When a controlled police operation saw undercover operatives order cocaine via text – “was hoping to catch up for a drink for melbourne cup can you do 1pm north sydney” – Wilson was directed near Meriton Apartments to make the sale.

Two undercover police officers hopped into the BMW he was driving and bought six bags of cocaine for $1800, court documents reveal.

A couple of weeks later the police strike force carried out another sting on the dial-a-dealer syndicate where Wilson once again delivered the cocaine to the same location.

Court documents state the 35-year-old man was estimated to have delivered 182 bags of cocaine for the syndicate and couriered the narcotics to locations including St Leonards, Bondi Beach, Clovelly, Kirribilli, Milsons Point, Darling Harbour and Marrickville.

Wilson pleaded guilty on Thursday to a single charge of drug supply and will be sentenced in Downing Centre Local Court next month.
