Darlinghurst assault: Shaun Barr charged for alleged shirtless attack

A man who was on the run for 72 hours after being accused of a violent shirtless attack on a woman inside a stolen car has fronted court after a dramatic arrest in southwest Sydney.
Shaun Barr, 33, is accused of a frightening assault in Darlinghurst on Sunday night where he allegedly left the driver’s seat of a stolen Volkswagen Passat to throw punches at a woman sitting inside
The alleged rampage continued until a passer-by intervened however, police say he was also assaulted by the Wagga man.
The Ashmont man allegedly fled the scene in the stolen car and has been accused by police of driving on the wrong side of the road.
The alleged violence came just over a week after a warrant had been issued for Barr’s arrest in connection to an alleged drug supply operation in Liverpool, involving methylamphetamine and cannabis.
The 33-year-old is also accused of procuring a minor to take part in the alleged drug dealing.
On Wednesday night, about 72 hours after the alleged Darlinghust attack, Barr returned to police attention after officers were tipped off about a stolen Lexus driving on Appin Rd, near Campbelltown.
Barr was allegedly driving the stolen car which became involved in a police chase through Bradbury. The police chopper tracked the Lexus until it stopped in Narellan which ultimately led to the arrest of Barr and a female teenage passenger.
Police say 6.5g of methylamphetamine and anabolic steroids were located in the car.
The Ashmont man was taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with ten offences, including two counts of driving a stolen car, police pursuit and drug possession.
Barr did not apply for bail in Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday, where the matter was adjourned to August 28.
