Plans for an elegant new three-storey mansion on a Vaucluse street where both former cricket captain Steve Smith and a member of the high profile Gazal clan own homes are underway.

An Jiang and Zhao Zhang lodged the $3.73 million plans with Woollahra council this month after purchasing the one-level Kings Road home for about $4 million in late 2018.

Smith and his wife Dani Willis were revealed last week as the buyers of a house further down the street for $6.6 million which boasts a pool, gym, steam room and wine cellar.

Nora Gazal Milling, whose sister is Real Housewives reality star Nicole and brother Nabil is the former flame of publicist Roxy Jacenko, live right next door to the proposed development site in a home purchased in February last year.

The plans show Jiang and Zhang wish to demolish the existing house almost entirely, retaining only the pool, and completely rebuild their four-bedroom dream home.

“The elegant development, designed by Cristina Gomes Architecture & Design, will replace an older-style house with a contemporary dwelling that complements the surrounding built form,” the documents read.

The plans largely align with the council’s Development Control Plan aside from minor noncompliance of some of the setbacks.

While it does comply with height and solar access limits, a neighbour will have their garden overshadowed at midday – but gain sunlight at 9am.

The DA documents also state the home maintains the privacy of neighbours focusing the balconies and majority of windows towards the road.

The site is a short stroll from some of Vaucluse’s most picturesque locations including Christison Park and Macquarie Lighthouse.
