Covid NSW: Campbelltown, Camden confirmed cases by postcode

As the Delta strain continues to spread across southwest Sydney from Glenfield to Denham Court - this is where every active case is located in the region.

New South Wales records nine deaths

Positive Covid cases continue to spread across the Macarthur region as residents push to get vaccinated.

There are currently 713 active cases in the region, including 471 in Campbelltown, 211 in Camden and 31 in the Wollondilly Shire.

The number of active cases have almost halved over the weekend from a total of 1228 recorded on Friday, including 823 in Campbelltown, 358 in Camden and 47 in the Wollondilly Shire.

The drop in case numbers comes as NSW recorded 1261 new cases and seven deaths on Sunday.

A man in his 20s was among the new deaths recorded Sunday, as well as a woman in her 40s who died at Campbelltown Hospital.

Despite the ever-present of Covid, hundreds of people flocked to beaches in the eastern suburbs while residents in Sydney’s southwest were forced to endure a sunny weekend of 28C temperature from their homes.

Chief health officer, Kerry Chant, expressed her concern for people in southwest and western Sydney who were unable to enjoy the beach due to strict lockdown rules.

“Clearly, I’m asking a lot of the people from southwestern Sydney and western Sydney but in reality, outdoor environments, if people are keeping away from each other, are probably the safest environments,” she said.

“I would like to see that people are really respectful and that they are adhering to the public health orders as they move about and if they are walking along the beach, but I would not want crowds, people engaging, people socialising - that is not what we need at this moment.”

Data has revealed where Covid is creeping across Macarthur since the virus broke out after a male limo driver in his 60s who contracted the Delta variant while transporting international aircrew members in Sydneu sparked a cluster.

It quickly broke free of Sydney’s east and spread to the suburbs, with cases quickly spreading into Campbelltown, making it one of the local government areas of concern.

A total of 180,149 Macarthur locals have received their first jab of the vaccine — an increase of 20,241 in the last week, with around 91,537 people having had both dosages of the Covid-19 vaccine in the region.

Camden is leading the pack with vaccinations with a whopping 87 per cent of its residents lining up to get the jab, becoming the 4th highest local government area in the country for first dose vaccination rates.

Camden state Liberal MP Peter Sidgreaves also confirmed Camden has remained consistent in the top 10 of 128 NSW councils getting tested for Covid since the second outbreak began in June.

Meanwhile, Campbelltown is also creeping up the vaccination tally with 82 per cent having received their first dose and 42 per cent fully vaccinated.

Hume federal Liberal MP Angus Taylor said Wollondilly wasn’t sitting far behind with 71 per cent getting their first dose.
