A teenager has fronted court for the first time since she was released on bail over her alleged involvement in the public stabbing of a man in the carpark of a sporting complex.

Emergency services rushed to the carpark of the Eschol Park Sports Complex at Eagle Vale just before 3.30pm on May 2 after onlookers reported a brawl.

Joshua Barham, 21, was found in the carpark suffering multiple stab wounds and rushed to Liverpool Hospital where he underwent surgery. He has since been released.

Jordan Nelson is one of five people who have been charged over the alleged incident when she was arrested at her home on May 6.

The 18-year-old was taken to Campbelltown police station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (accessory after the fact), and tamper with evidence with intent to mislead.

Police alleged in court Ms Nelson filmed the entire altercation on her phone but deleted the footage.

The teenager was released on bail on May 21 as her mother and grandmother supported her from the public gallery.

A police prosecutor opposed bail, telling the court “tampering with phone footage is concerning”.

Defence barrister Michelle Duncan told the court Ms Nelson’s alleged involvement was merely “speculation” and the teenager disclosed a number of people involved to police in her interview.

The court heard the recording of the alleged brawl had been sent through WhatsApp to a friend.

“The allegations are serious but weak and she has no background in violence and no association with a criminal gang,” he said.

Ms Nelson’s mother cried in the gallery as Magistrate George Breton told the court the teenager could face a full-time jail sentence for her charges.

He also revealed the brawl involved two gangs, telling the court: “members of the Triple 8 gang approached associates of a rival gang, isolated him and struck him twice with machetes while imposing other assaults on him”.

“The events were frightening to those around and involved a serious assault on an undefended innocent bystander,” Magistrate Breton said.

Ms Nelson was granted bail with a $10,000 surety provided by her mother and grandmother.

The teenager’s mother was emotional during her daughter’s court appearance in May, however Ms Nelson faced court on Tuesday to change her bail conditions.

She attended court with her sister and brother-in-law, who she will now be living with under changed conditions approved by Magistrate David Degnan.

Ms Duncan told the court her client has “had some discourse” with her mother, meaning it was best she reside with her sister, who she also works with.

Ms Nelson no longer has to report to police five days a week, only three, and the $10,000 surety was replaced by her sister and brother-in-law.

She is due to reappear in court on September 29.
