One of the biggest hardware businesses in Australia has expanded its footprint in one of the country’s fastest growing areas, beginning construction on a $40 million investment in the heart of Campbelltown.
Only months after Campbelltown Council signalled to the business community it was open for business, Bunnings Warehouse has boosted its presence in the area.
A new warehouse, spanning more than 17,000sq m and employing about 70 new staff members, will be built on Blaxland Rd with the first sod recently turned on the site.
Campbelltown Council general manager Lindy Deitz said the city continued to grow from strength to strength as a business hub.
“Our city is at the centre of one of the fastest growing populations in the country,” she said.
“Bunnings’ expansion is a signal to everyone that we are open for business and there are many great opportunities within the Campbelltown CBD for businesses looking to invest.”
Campbelltown Mayor George Brticevic said the arrival of a new Bunnings Warehouse would have a “knock-on effect” for existing businesses.
Robyn Hudson, Bunnings regional operations manager, said the new home would be bigger and better than the existing Kellicar Rd site.
“Bunnings’ further investment in the Campbelltown area will provide additional job opportunities for local residents and school leavers,” she said.
All employees from the existing store will be transferred to the new store. The new Bunnings Warehouse is expected to be complete by mid-2021.
