Commuters using Leumeah railway station are set to be frustrated when they return to their cars this afternoon after confusion over an unmarked parking lot led to dozens of cars being parked in.
The large parking lot on the station’s west side is currently having upgrade works completed.
Due to the works there are no line markings in the car park, leaving hundreds of commuters
confused about where to park.
In some places, a double row of cars have been parked in while in others, a single row of cars has been parked in.
Campbelltown Council director of city delivery Kevin Lynch said people would not be fined and council staff will be at the car park throughout the remainder of the week to help people park.
“Council staff will be at the car park this afternoon to assist with the parking situation and will also be present Thursday and Friday morning to assist drivers in where they should be parking,” he said.
“While rangers are not able to issue infringement notices until the line markings are complete, we ask that people park appropriately to accommodate the movement of all vehicles within the facility.”

Mr Lynch said line markings would be repainted this weekend.
“Council has resurfaced Leumeah Railway Station car park as part of the annual car park maintenance program,” he said.
“The car park was sealed on last Saturday night to reduce the impact on commuters and line marking will be re-instated this weekend after the pavement has settled enough to repaint.
“In undertaking these works Council has reviewed the operation of the car park and once re-line marked an additional 58 parking spots will be available.”
