Rowan Enright blamed ‘frustrating’ McDonalds self-service kiosks for outburst

A man has blamed the “frustrating” self-service kiosks at McDonalds for an outburst in which he damaged the entrance doors at a Spring Farm restaurant.

The incident occurred at the Spring Farm McDonalds restaurant.

A man has blamed the “frustrating” self-service kiosks at McDonalds for an outburst in which he damaged the entrance doors at a Spring Farm restaurant.

Camden man Rowan Enright became upset, stormed away from the counter and used his hands to stop the automatic doors at the McDonalds, damaging them, after he was told he couldn’t purchase a scone.

Attempting to justify his actions to Magistrate Ian Cheetham in Picton Local Court today, Enright told the court he had become “overwhelmed” as he was looking for the large menus regularly featured at a McDonalds restaurant.

Enright was “frustrated” with the self-service kiosks.

“This particular McDonalds didn’t have any of that, you are forced to use the self-service (kiosks) and trying to deal with that was very frustrating,” he said.

Enright later told the court that going to McDonalds could often be a frustrating experience and that had contributed to his actions.

“A lot of the time McDonalds let you down with the ice cream machine not working and other things,” he said.

“I was frustrated trying to navigate the self-service.”

Enright was forthcoming with police after the incident and voluntarily paid more than $800 for repairs to the doors.

He disputed police facts in court and stated he was not angry and had instead used his foot to block the doors closing, inadvertently causing them to break.

He was convicted and fined $450 for damaging property.
