Campbelltown’s bold vision to transform into ‘Australia’s greenest city’ will move one step closer to reality with some of the leading minds in the field of sustainability to share their ideas in a series of TED Talk-style events.
The series, to be known as Thrive – Ideas to Inspire, will focus on sharing and celebrating ideas which drive positive change with the first event to feature an academic involved with the city’s recent groundbreaking heat study.
Campbelltown Mayor George Brticevic invited the community to get involved with the series, which will be held at Campbelltown Arts Centre.
“We’re excited to have some of the brightest minds in the sustainability and resilience fields
here in Campbelltown to speak about some of the exciting initiatives that are happening in our
city and across Sydney,” he said.
“Come along and find out how you can be part of making Campbelltown a more sustainable and resilient city.”
In 2018, Campbelltown Council launched it’s lofty bid to ‘Re-Imagine Campbelltown’ with a vision of building the country’s most sustainable city which fosters innovation and was attractive to young professionals.
The Thrive – Ideas to Inspire series will launch next Thursday with Western Sydney University senior research fellow Dr Sebastian Pfautsch to discuss the study on the urban heat island effect. The man behind the Campbelltown Station’s pilot ‘Breathing Wall’ project,
Junglefy co-founder Jock Gammon, and Resilient Sydney’s Kristin Gabriel will feature in coming months.
The series will take place on the first Thursday of each month at Campbelltown Arts Centre, from 6pm to 8pm.
