Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly crown Citizen of the Year
Volunteer firefighters and a business advocate have been recognised for their selfless devotion to their communities at Australia Day Awards ceremonies.

The tireless dedication of two volunteer firefighters and a female business advocate was recognised at Australia Day Award ceremonies held by Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly Councils.
Campbelltown business advocate Emma Macfarlane and Rural Fire Service volunteers Barbara Jolley (Wollondilly) and Brett Atkins (Camden) were recognised as Citizen of the Year in their respective communities.
Ms Macfarlane co-founded Victress Connection last year, an organisation which brings together businesswomen to collaborate and inspire each other. She also sits on the board of Youth Solutions and organises the annual Ingham Institute Luncheon in celebration of
International Women’s Day and women in science.
Ms Jolley was recognised for her 18 years of service to Silverdale Rural Fire Brigade, representing the brigade as president, treasurer, deputy captain and captain across the years.
“Her commitment to the Silverdale Rural Fire Brigade and great sense of community spirit and dedication will have a lasting benefit for the community,” said Wollondilly Mayor Matthew Deeth.
Other community members recognised in the Wollondilly area included Mali Dillon (Young Citizen of the Year), Jay Seeney (Achiever of the Year), Shane Taylor (Sportsperson of the Year) and Ron Bolton (Local Hero of the Year).
In the Campbelltown area HSC student Riley Tonna was recognised as Young Citizen of the Year, as well as Flora Vidamour (Environmental Citizen of the Year), Kurtis Becker (Sportsperson of the Year) and Zonta Club of Macarthur (Community Group Initiative of the Year).
First Narellan Scout Group leader Rebecca Halcomb was recognised as Camden’s Young Citizen of the Year with other award winners including Lily Hreszczuk (Sports Achievement Award), Gaylene Feld (Arts and Culture Award) and Macarthur Lions Club and Turning Point Camden (Community Group of the Year Award).
