Rahul Singh: Body of man missing from Mount Annan found after four-day search

Over the last four days, a large-scale, multi-agency search of a southwest Sydney suburb was undertaken to find a missing teen, but on Thursday afternoon it came to a tragic conclusion.

A “true superhero and legend” are just some of the heartfelt words used to describe a 19-year-old after his body was found in southwest Sydney.

The body of Rahul Singh was discovered about 1.40pm Thursday, four days after he went missing in the area. The 19-year-old was last seen in Mount Annan about 6am last Sunday.

There has been an outpouring of heartfelt messages to his family and tributes to Rahul from the community.

Mohaammed Safiq posted on social media that Rahul was a “true superhero” who will be missed dearly by his loved ones.

“A superstar of every gathering,” he wrote.

“You made things light up with your presence in any function.

“We love you to the end of our life and beyond ... words are less to express what you mean to use. Hero, superstar, legend.”

Mr Safiq also thanked the police, volunteers, public at large and for their love and support during the search for Rahul.

Deb Pope wrote that it was not the news the community was hoping for.

“Rest In Peace Rahul, you were an incredible gentleman,” she wrote. “Our thoughts and prayers are with your beautiful family.”

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command were notified by his family when he could not be located, and an investigation into his whereabouts commenced.

Over the last four days, a large-scale, multi-agency search of the Mount Annan area was undertaken as part of the investigation, co-ordinated by Police Rescue, with assistance from Aviation Command, Dog and Mounted Unit, Police Divers, Operations Support Group, Public Order and Riot Squad, State Emergency Service and NSW Rural Fire Service.

Rahul’s body was located within Mount Annan Botanical Gardens on Thursday. Initial inquiries suggest his death was not suspicious. A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
