Police investigating the murder of Campbelltown father Jamie Phillips, found dead in a vacant Rosemeadow lot in October, have released footage of the hours before his death in an appeal for public assistance.
A post mortem has determined Mr Phillips died as a result of multiple injuries.
Campbelltown detectives, with the assistance of State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, believe the 46-year-old was the subject of a targeted attack with more than one offender involved.
Investigations suggest Mr Phillips was in the Rosemeadow and Ambarvale areas before his death and was murdered on the evening of October 24 or early hours of October 25, before his body was left in a vacant lot on Englorie Park Drive.
Campbelltown crime manager Detective Inspector Greg Inger has appealed for anyone with information about the murder to come forward.
“This was a cowardly and unprovoked crime that has had a devastating effect on the victim’s family,” he said.
“Jamie suffered multiple serious injuries and we believe that more than one offender was involved. We believe it was a targeted attack.”
“Today we have released CCTV images of Jamie which were taken on the afternoon prior to his murder, in the hope that it will jog someone’s memory”.
“Investigators continue to urge any witnesses or anyone who saw Mr Phillips in the Rosemeadow or Campbelltown areas in the days leading up to his death to come forward.”
Detective Inspector Inger, with Jamie Phillips’ Mum and brother, are expected to speak to the media this morning.
