A former Cobbitty man has been ordered off the road for 10 months after he ploughed through two properties with a 4WD utility and crashed into a car while driving drunk.
Jake Kennedy, 22, tested positive to drugs including cocaine, cannabis and methylamphetamine and had a 0.144 blood alcohol readingwhen he crashed through two properties and into a parked car in October last year.
He pleaded guilty in Picton Local Court on Tuesday to drink driving and negligent driving charges.
His license was suspended for 10 months and he was given an 18-month good behaviour bond.
He also was fined $700 for driving with a suspended license and $600 for driving under the influence of drugs. Both charges also carried six-month license suspensions.
Magistrate Ian Cheetham told Kennedy he was lucky not to have killed anyone in the crash.
“It’s fortunate that no one was hurt or killed,” he said.
“It’s fortunate (for you) that you’re before me and not a higher court deciding how long you should go to jail for.”

About 2.50am on Sunday, October 14, Kennedy was driving home from Camden when he lost control of the Mitsubishi Triton he was driving while going through the roundabout at the intersection of Werombi and Smalls roads in Grasmere.
The vehicle then went through the front yard of a Smalls Rd property damaging a fence before moving down the side of the property and crashing through a second fence into an adjoining property on Werombi Rd.
The vehicle then hit a parked car and moved it about 5m.
In court documents, police said Kennedy’s attempts to brake resulted in the wheels locking up due to a combination of poor weather conditions and speed.
Kennedy had a history of driving offences in recent years.
His solicitor said the young man had taken steps to reform.
The case was among 17 drink driving cases heard on Tuesday in Picton Local Court.
