Fast food giant Hungry Jack plans to open a 24/7 restaurant and drive-thru in one of southwest Sydney’s newest suburbs — and the region’s first Starbucks could be set to follow.
Greenfields Development Company has lodged plans with Camden Council for a 240sq m Hungry Jack’s restaurant featuring a double bay drive-thru in Oran Park, right next door to a brand new KFC that opened in September on Dunk Pl.
The $3m proposal includes 33 parking spaces with internal access to the neighbouring KFC carpark, capacity to seat 40 customers, and a dedicated delivery driver pick-up area.
What’s more, the plans reveal a separate development application is set to be lodged for a Starbucks restaurant on the southern side of the planned Hungry Jack’s.
“Parking areas and access will be shared between the two buildings,” a planner said.
“The site is highly accessible to both local and regional vehicular movements with Dunk Pl and Southwell Rd providing a direct link to Dick Johnson Dr,” a project planner said.
The new Hungry Jack’s development will join a growing fast food hub at the intersection of Dick Johnson Dr and The Northern Rd, with a McDonald’s outlet just across the road.
The multimillion-dollar Hungry Jack’s joint would expand the local fast food and late-night eatery options for more than 4000 households in the area, with an additional 3000 homes on the way to the rapidly developing suburb in the near future.
It plans to operate with roughly eight to 10 staff on-site per shift, offering both dine-in and takeaway options.
Between 20 and 30 vehicles per hours are expected to be served in the drive-thru.
“The proposal will deliver a retail-based restaurant facility which meets the day to day needs of local residents,” a planner said, adding that the outlet would also “increase employment opportunities” in Oran Park.
The Hungry Jack’s plans will be on public exhibition until November 3.
