More than 125 cannabis plants have been taken off the streets after Camden police uncovered a sophisticated hydroponic set-up at a Currans Hill home last Wednesday.
The drug bust follows 3740 cannabis plants, with a street value of almost $12 million, seized in Sydney’s southwest last month.
Police officers searched the Currrans Hill home last Wednesday night and discovered a sophisticated hydroponic set-up throughout the house.
It is understood no one had been permanently living at the address.
A 24-year-old man, who has no fixed address, was allegedly responsible for the illegal set-up and was charged with knowingly take part in the commercial cultivation of cannabis.
The raid follows police seizing more than 350 cannabis plants from an Elderslie home on July 2. Police say the Currans Hill and Elderslie hydroponic setups are unrelated, at this stage.
Camden Police Area Command acting crime manager Detective Inspector Daniel Clements said it was a good outcome.
“It is a good result to identify and eradicate that amount of cannabis in the area,” he said.
The 24-year-old man was formally refused bail at Campbelltown Local Court last Thursday. He is due to return to court on October 23.
