A fuming magistrate has told a young mother to imagine her kids being “splattered against the windscreen” after she was caught drink driving with two incorrectly restrained children and a baby in her car.
Mother-of-four Pauline Taura appeared in Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday where she pleaded guilty to drink driving in Blair Athol and driving while suspended one week later in Rosemeadow.
Police first pulled over the 25-year-old on July 28 and found her six-month-old and two children, aged two and five, who were incorrectly restrained in her red Ford Falcon.
Two other adults were also in the car.

Taura was arrested and taken to Campbelltown police station where she blew a reading of 0.138 — more than two times the legal limit.
According to police facts, she was “jerky in her movements … was speaking fast, her eyes were glazed and her breath smelt strongly of liquor”.
She told police she had drunk a bottle of blueberry cider hours earlier with no food.
One week later on August 5 police went to Taura’s house to conduct an AVO compliance check when they saw her arrive at the property in her Falcon — after her licence had been suspended for the drink driving incident.
In court on Tuesday, Magistrate Robert Walker was scathing in his criticism of Taura, saying she could be sent to prison for driving while suspended.
“You have disregard for the law because you lost your licence with the mid-range (drink driving offence) and then you continue to drive,” he said.
“Driving with unrestrained passengers? (Imagine) seeing your children splattered against the windscreen — that’s what happens.”
The woman, who is unemployed, was also issued with two infringement notices over the two children being incorrectly restrained.
Court documents state they were wearing a seatbelt around them.
Taura was fined $2000 for both offences, has been disqualified from driving for six months and must have an interlock fitted when she gets her licence back.
“Don’t drive again because you’ll go to jail on the next occasion,” Mr Walker warned.
