Yagoona’s Natalia Taychouri has been crowned one of the best gymnasts in the state and will head down to Melbourne next month to proudly represent NSW.
The 12-year-old competitor, who trains out of Altitude Gym Sports in Revesby, was recently named the acrobatic level six women’s trio NSW state champion alongside her teammates Deanna Chew and Kaidance Weir. Her efforts qualified her and her team for the 2017 nationals.
But Natalia said she wasn’t going to stop there.
“I want to accomplish making it further than nationals,” she said. “In the coming years, I really hope to make it to internationals and travel with my friends and coaches as it would be such a rewarding and worthwhile experience.
“I would also like to give back my experience to other children and help them to achieve what I did by becoming a coach.”
Her determination has made her this week’s Local Sports Star nominee for Junior Sports Star Individual.
LSS has five categories: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Stars Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual, Young Sporting Spirit Team and Service to Sport.
