Undefeated run through state championships puts Cumberland Nepean well and truly on top

Cumberland Nepean Softball Association’s under-11 girl’s side made sure to soak up the spotlight as they took out the state championship over the Easter long weekend.
The girls had an undefeated run to the title before meeting their rivals Manly in the grand final.
Cumberland Nepean endured a tight back-and-forth affair to ultimately take out the title with an 8-6 victory.
The association’s president Krissi Travers said she couldn’t be more proud of the girls’ achievement.
“Every one of the kids is a superstar,” she said. “The whole weekend was very competitive.
“For them to get the opportunity to play on the Olympic Diamond at Blacktown International Sportspark as well with a roaring crowd cheering them on was really special.”
Cumberland Nepean Softball Association’s under-11 girls side is the latest nominee for the Mt Druitt Standard Local Sports Stars award.
The awards are on until August 31. Prizes will be awarded to athletes aged 18 and under across four categories: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual and Young Sporting Spirit Team. There is also an open-age Service To Sport category.
“Your Local Club is proud to support this program, which shines a light on elite young athletes and the volunteers,” ClubsNSW chief executive Anthony Ball said.
