It takes a whole lot of skill to have an entire team fire at the right time, especially in a sport like rhythmic gymnastics.

However, Le Ray Gymnastics at Abbotsleigh’s Level 10 team has put forward sensational individual performances to come away from the NSW Senior State Championships as the champion team.

The team of Annelise Harper, Tyla Petrie, Charlotte Wong and Danielle Boniface all starred in their events, with Annelise, Charlotte and Tyla also earning a place on the NSW state team for the Nationals competition in May.

Annelise was also crowned Individual State Champion.

“To have one level 10 girl get through to Nationals is pretty amazing, so to have three is a pretty big achievement,” LRG at Abbotsleigh’s head coach Song-Hee Schumacher said.

Le Ray Gymnastics at Abbotsleigh’s Level 10 team is the latest nominee for the Hornsby Advocate Local Sports Stars award.

The awards are on until August 31.

Prizes will be awarded to athletes aged 18 and under across four categories: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual and Young Sporting Spirit Team.

There is also an open-age Service To Sport category.
