Kade Webber’s aim for what he wants to achieve in golf is pretty simple: “To be the best in the world.”

The 13-year-old from Colebee’s drive for success stems from a genuine love of the sport that sees him out on the links pretty much every day of the week.

“Kade practices every chance he gets, every day after school,” his mum Shannan said.

“(He) plays Saturday and Sunday every weekend, plays every day during school holidays and practices until dark when finished.”

Kade’s dedication to the sport has seen him become one of the best golfers in the state.

With a handicap of just four, Kade has earned a scholarship with Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club and was runner-up at the JNJG Peter O’Malley Golf Tournament in Bathurst this year.

His fantastic start to 2018 also saw him become the Sydney West Schools under 15 scratch winner.

Kade said the main things young golfers need if they wanted to make the most of their golfing career was passion, dedication and commitment.

“Get lessons, make practice count and never give up.”

Kade is the latest nominee for the Rouse Hill Times Local Sports Stars award.

The awards are on until August 31. Prizes will be awarded to athletes aged 18 and under across four categories: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual and Young Sporting Spirit Team.

There is also a Service To Sport category.
