Cumberland Nepean Softball Association’s girls side has steamrolled through the state’s best teams at the 2018 Softball NSW under-17 State Championships.

The girls claimed the state title with a dominant, undefeated display at Jacqui Osmond Softball Centre in Liverpool over the weekend. They clinched their first under-17 state title in six years with a 10-2 grand final victory over Hornsby.

Cumberland Nepean Softball Association’s president Kristina Travers said it was a much-deserved victory.

Cumberland Nepean Softball Association’s under-17 girls squad is the latest nominee for the Mt Druitt Standard’s Local Sports Stars award. The awards are on until August 31.

Prizes will be awarded to athletes aged 18 and under across four categories: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual and Young Sporting Spirit Team. There is also a Service To Sport category.

“Your Local Club is proud to support this program, which shines a light on elite young athletes and the volunteers,” ClubsNSW chief executive Anthony Ball said.
