Hayden Shaw selected in Australian under 17 softball team for 2018 International Friendship Series

Hayden Shaw’s passion for softball runs deep.
The 15 year old from Greystanes began playing the sport when he was just five, quickly discovering it to be more than just a hobby.
At the age of 12, Hayden decided he wanted to represent his state and country in softball.
He took a giant leap towards accomplishing that dream last year when he was selected in the NSW under 17 squad.
After starring at the state level, he discovered last month that he would be pulling on the green and gold later this year with the Australian under 17 side.
That squad will attend the 2018 International Friendship Series training camp and competition, which will be held at Redlands Softball Association in Queensland in July.
Hayden’s mum Donna says his early success is a testament to his love and commitment to the game.
“He’s had his eye on the ball for a long time now.
“Hopefully there’s more success to come.”
Hayden is the latest nominee for the Parramatta Advertiser Local Sports Stars award.
The awards are on until August 31. Prizes will be awarded to athletes aged 18 and under across four categories: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual and Young Sporting Spirit Team. There is also an open-age Service To Sport category. “Your Local Club is proud to support this program, which shines a light on elite young athletes and the volunteers,” ClubsNSW chief executive Anthony Ball said.
