Epping Boys High School’s long history of sporting success has continued with its under-13 team winning the Sydney High Schools Rugby Union competition.

After cruising through the competition undefeated, the school hosted Asquith in the grand final in what shaped up to be a monumental clash.

Although the home team struck first it was still anyone’s game early in the second half when Asquith closed the gap with a length-of-the-field try. But Epping’s resilience ultimately paid off, with the team controlling possession and steamrolling their way to a 26-5 win.

“Consistency with adding the extras helped to extend the result – and lock away the shield to add to their trophy cabinet,” parent Michael Goldring said.

The win earned Epping Boys High School a Local Sports Stars nomination for Young Sporting Spirit-Team.
