Thirty-six years is a long time to remain in any job.
It’s even harder to not only enjoy it, but have a meaningful impact over such a long time.
Ross Iredale has been honoured by the Gladesville-Hornsby Football Association for his 36 years of service as a committee or board member.
He has been nominated for NewsLocal’s Service to Sport award.
Originally a player with the association, Mr Iredale has been at the forefront of the GHFA’s growth into becoming one of the most popular football associations in NSW.
GHFA held a special celebration for Mr Iredale at Pennant Hills Golf Club last month, where it was announced that the Christie Park Amenities Building and the future redevelopment facility will be named the Ross Iredale Building.
GHFA general manager Mark Lockie said the honour is for Mr Iredale’s contribution to the sport and community over many years.
“Ross has been hugely important in running and growing the club over the years.
“He was closely involved in setting up our offices and the two fields at Christie Park in 1990.
“He has been a huge influence on not just the association, but the sport right across NSW.”
