Kane Gordon, Kimberley Hunter, charged after police respond to alleged gunshot at Liverpool

A man and woman embroiled in a standoff after police responded to the sound of gunshot at an apartment block in Liverpool have appeared in court.

Two people have been charged following a major police operation in Sydney’s southwest after a report of gunshot was heard at an apartment complex.

Kane Gordon, 43, and Kimberley Amber Hunter, 29 were arrested after police were called to Charles St, Liverpool about 2am on Monday – with dozens of officers, including detectives and negotiators on the scene.

Police sources previously told this publication a loud bang was heard echoing from the park which overlooks the unit block and a group of people were spotted fleeing into one of the units shortly after.

When officers arrived, the group allegedly refused to exit the unit, resulting in the stand-off.

Hunter was arrested about 2.15am inside an allegedly stolen Pantech truck where police seized two firearms.

The operation ended about 5.40am where Gordon,a further two women aged 29 and 34, and a 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Liverpool police station.

Gordon, of Liverpool, was charged with two counts of possessing a shortened firearm without authority.

Hunter, of Guildford, was charged with possessing a stolen motor vehicle and three outstanding warrants on unrelated prohibited drug charges.

She was also charged with two counts of novice range drink driving, speeding at more than 10km/h over the speed limit as a provisional driver and not displaying P plates.

Both Gordon and Hunter’s matters were adjourned for two weeks for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to consider whether they will take carriage of the case.

Hunter did not appear in court at all, while Gordon only made a fleeting appearance in the dock and said nothing as the case was adjourned.

The three remaining people were released pending further inquiries.
