From a proposed rapid transit corridor to a new town centre, Liverpool is in the midst of an infrastructure boom.

10. RAPID TRANSIT CORRIDOR

A 19km stretch of road through West Hoxton could be the first to make use of driverless technology under plans to create a rapid transit corridor from Liverpool to the Western Sydney Airport.

Liverpool Council is creating a detailed design and business case for the proposed widening and extension of Fifteenth Ave.

A trip from Liverpool to the airport would take just 20 minutes along the route.

9. MOOREBANK MARINA

A proposed $44 million marina on the banks of the Georges River in Moorebank could still be on the cards despite being rejected in the NSW Land and Environment Court earlier this year.

The developers behind the proposal, Benedict Industries, say they haven’t given up on the project.

The marina would include tourist, recreational and club facilities at 146 Newbridge Rd.

8. MOOREBANK INTERMODAL

The controversial Moorebank Intermodal project is expected to generate 7000 jobs, $9 billion in economic benefits and ease congestion on Sydney’s roads.

Strict conditions have been placed on the project, which continues to be opposed by residents who say traffic congestion will worsen.

Noise issues and the impact on the area’s biodiversity are among the issues opponents have also cited.

7. LIVERPOOL CIVIC PLACE

The Liverpool Civic Place project is part of a plan to revitalise the southern end of the city centre.

The mixed-use development at 52 Scott St is expected to be completed by 2020, and will be home to Liverpool Council’s new offices, a library and the University of Wollongong.

6. ED SQUARE

Ed Square is bringing inner city living to the southwest with a new town centre next to Edmondson Park railway station.

The project will comprise a mix of housing styles including 992 apartments and 890 terraces and townhouses, a 68m residential tower and more than six hectares of open space, with a vibrant town square and eat street.
