A popular Kmart store in southwest Sydney has been closed for cleaning after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
Casula Mall centre management today confirmed on Facebook a staff member from the centre’s Kmart store had returned a positive test for the virus on Monday, forcing the closure of the store for deep cleaning.
“We have been in contact with both our Kmart store and their head office and this case has been confirmed. The Kmart employee and fellow staff are now isolating,” centre management posted on Facebook.
“Throughout the centre our focus remains on regular and diligent cleaning, we also undertook a further deep clean of the general mall which included all key areas such as hard surfaces, food courts and bathrooms.
“The health and safety of everyone who works and visits Casula Mall continues to be our primary focus and our thoughts are with those affected.”
Shoppers who attended the store on July 10 between 5pm and midnight are being urged to watch for symptoms.
Thirteen new cases of coronavirus were recorded in NSW on Tuesday, 10 connected to the Crossroads Hotel.
Three were patrons of the hotel and seven are close contacts, bringing the cluster to 28.
Health authorities are urging anyone who attended the Crossroads Hotel between Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 10 to immediately self-isolate until 14 days after they were last there, attend a clinic for testing even if they have no symptoms, watch for respiratory symptoms and get retested should any occur.
Patrons should stay in isolation for 14 days even if they receive a negative test.
