A hotel in Liverpool has been ordered to close as health authorities rush to determine whether it was the source of two positive cases of COVID-19.
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard addressed the media on Friday afternoon and said the pub was a likely point of connection for the two cases.
It comes after a woman in her 30s from southwest Sydney tested positive earlier this week.
Mr Hazzard said today a 50-year-old man had also tested positive.
Contact tracing revealed both had separately visited the Crossroads Hotel in Casula last Saturday night.
“It occurred to the tracing staff that this woman who had become positive in the last few days should have her facts looked at and revisited and what’s been found is that particular lady and this 50-year-old gentleman both attended last Saturday night, independently, at a hotel.
“That hotel is the Crossroads Hotel at Casula. Now obviously that has major ramifications because that appears to be … a likely point of connection.”
A pop-up clinic will be set up outside the hotel, which has been closed, from 5pm to 9pm.
It will also be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
Holsworthy state Liberal MP Melanie Gibbons urged residents to get tested if they had symptoms and stay at home if they were unwell.
Symptoms include fever, cough, sore or scratchy throat or shortness of breath.
