A multimillion-dollar pub featuring a bistro and gaming area has been earmarked as the new “social hub” for families in the heart of a growing suburb in Sydney’s southwest.

Ben Isaac and his brother Jono, under Isaac Property Developments Pty Ltd, have submitted a revised development application to Liverpool Council for the ‘Austral Pub’ at 352 and 362 Bringelly Rd, Austral.

The duo own the prestigious Boathouse Group with ten up-market venues across Sydney, including the Gregory Hills Hotel.

The plans for the $9m club will feature a bistro and dining area, two function terraces including a lounge, family dining and kids playground.

Ben Isaac said the land was acquired back in 2017 and decided a pub was the “most appropriate use for the property” – given its location on the main intersection in the town centre.

“The Austral Hotel will be a focal point for the community providing a social hub for families and friends to meet up and enjoy a meal,” he said.

Mr Isaac said the development would be a “family-friendly hotel”, run by the Isaac family and catering for the growing Austral community.

“Austral is undergoing significant residential growth at the moment, and having amenities to service the needs of the residents is vital for a successful community,” he said.

If approved, the pub will also feature a sports bar, sports terrace and outdoor gaming area and bar.

The watering hole will reach a height limit of 12m and operate with a maximum capacity of 900 patrons with basement parking for 180 spaces.

Up to 40 staff would work at the pub with proposed operating hours from 9am to 1am Monday to Saturday and 10am to midnight on Sunday.

A previous application was submitted to council in 2021 but was later refused, with the matter taken to the Land and Environment Court.

The revised application was created “in an effort to resolve the contentions in dispute”.
