Construction has begun on a new inner west park as a part of the WestConnex M4 tunnels project, which should be completed by February 2020.
The around $5 million park, dubbed Haberfield Gardens, will sit near the WestConnex corridor in Haberfield.
The green space adjacent to Parramatta Rd will be built in the 5200 sums between Wattle St and Walker Ave.
The park is set to include a children’s play area for two to five year-olds, drinking fountains, seating and new landscaping.
Fully-accessible pedestrian and cycle ways are proposed to connect Walker Ave, Parramatta Rd and Wattle St.

CEO Andrew Head said a three-metre high noise barrier along Wattle St and a mosaic of a Waratah flower and a local historical map were inspired by community feedback.
“The new recreational area will provide a new community hub for the local area and improve accessibility and connectivity in Haberfield,” Mr Head said.
Mr Head said WestConnex will also contribute $2.5 million to the Haberfield Centre Library upgrade and the Mervyn Fletcher Hall refurbishment.
