Police are still at the residence of a woman in her 30s who was stabbed numerous times and taken to hospital.
It is understood officers — also standing guard outside the taped off unit block — are waiting to speak with the victim, whose condition has been downgraded from critical to serious but stable.
The woman was attacked at a unit on Arthur St, Marrickville, about 3am today.
Inner West Police Area Command officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics initially located and attended to the woman, who was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospoital with multiple stab wounds.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said police regularly attended the unit block, adding people often visited the premises at “all hours of the night” and that “demons” were attracted to the residence.
“What happens in those flats is not normal,” he said.
“They’re like ants walking in and out.”
Another Arthur St resident, who went by the name of Nick, said he was unaware of the incident until police knocked on his door on Wednesday morning.
He said police were called to the unit block last year after a taxi driver was allegedly assaulted.
A crime scene has been established and investigations into the circumstances surround the stabbings continue.
