Thievery in Glebe have a new-look menu which includes a favourite in the ice cream kebab

There’s only one thing for sure when presented with an ice cream kebab — a knife and fork is just going to slow you down.

In the nine-months since Thievery opened in Glebe, the menu has been ever-evolving.

But one of the few dishes which the eclectic conspirers behind the menu haven’t changed is the signature dessert — and why would you?

At $8, chefs Julian Cincotta and Jordan Muhamad have combined booza chocolate ice cream and caramel pearls and topped it with fairy floss — eaten with your hands and shared with a friend — there’ll be as much on your face and hands as in your mouth. But you won’t regret ordering it for a second.

The menu at Thievery is all about sharing.

Co-owner Manoli Politis said menu items like the Baba Ghanoush ($13) and Lebanese Fried Chicken ($15) continue to be crowd-pleasers at the cosy bar-come-restaurant, but that new menu items were also proving a success.

The fried Okra ($12) is a must-try on the share menu, and the pork belly kebabs, with spiced fig jam and cucumber ($14), are a taste sensation you won’t regret ordering.

“We find people come for the food, and then stay for the drinks,” Mr Politis said. “The kebabs are really popular but mostly people come and like to share things, like the hummus and the roasted cauliflower fattoush.”

Such is the success of Thievery, that the team already have two new restaurants under construction.

“I can’t tell you too much, but I can tell you they will be in the inner city and will be completely different to this, but I think people are going to love them,” Mr Politis said.
