The grants have enabled school students and club participants to access quality cricket facilities and cricket programs to help foster the continued growth in female and junior cricket in the Inner West.

The World Cup was a big hit and has inspired a new generation of young girls to try their hand at the game.

Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne and Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon were on hand for the opening of the new facilities at Fort St High School, Petersham, on Tuesday.

Byrne said the new facilities would be especially import for female cricket players.

“These new facilities will become a priority training centre for girls, guaranteeing them a safe, exclusive, quality place to train.

“This is vital as girls cricket has quadrupled in size over the last six seasons.

“Congratulations to Inner West Council’s Office of Sport, our local cricket clubs and Cricket NSW for working together to deliver these wonderful new facilities.”
