YOU could hear the laughter a mile away at St Anthony’s Family Care in Croydon this morning, when Ashfield Club treated the children to a special treat as part of DoSomething Day.
Club Ashfield were thrilled to take part in DoSomething Day and recruited Stardust Kids to entertain the children at St Anthony’s Family Care.
They were treated to magic shows, dancing, face painting and a morning tea.
Club Ashfield also made a donation of $4,500 to St Anthony’s, who are an inclusive centre and allocate 30 per cent of their enrolments to children with disabilities.
Club Ashfield’s Marketing Manager, Tijen Salis said she admired the early learning centre’s efforts and as a mother of two herself she felt inspired to support them this Do Something Day.
Mrs Salis said helping the community was all part of the clubs vision from the 1960s.
“We are just going back to our roots by supporting children and families in the area,” Mrs Salis said.
“It’s all about the kids, we wanted to do something fun and something they enjoy.
“We are happy to put smiles on their faces,” she said.
Club Ashfield also made a donation of $4,500 towards St Anthony’s Family Care.
The early learning centre’s CEO Joanna Najdzion said as a not for profit organisation, it is external funds are vital to help support the centre.
“The grant is being used for sensory equipment for kids with disabilities,” Mrs Najdzion said.
“We want to say thank you to Club Ashfield for their support and selecting St Anthony’s and for providing this opportunity to the kids.
“It’s not often we will have something like this here, it has been really well received by the kids and the families.”
Parent Gisela Martinez said she was extremely grateful to Club Ashfield for their generosity.
Her daughter Sophia has been attending St Anthony’s for a year and had never experienced a Stardust magician before.
“I think it’s very honourable what they are doing,” Mrs Martinez said.
“I really appreciate these sort of events for the kids and to be a part of the community.
“It’s something different and out of the ordinary from our routine.
“She hasn’t been this close to a magician before. For her it’s a real treat, you can see the look of her face, she is in total awe.”
An initiative of the DoSomething Foundation, NewsLocal and Your Local Club, DoSomething Day seeks to celebrate our volunteers and highlight those who are giving back by spreading kindness in their community.
