Cops arrest Hells Angel Sergeant At Arms

South Coast police have issued a stunning warning to outlaw motorcycle gangs after arresting the alleged Sergeant at Arms of the Brutal South chapter of the Hells Angels.

Police carried out early morning raids at Nowra, Sanctuary Point and Mollymook on Wednesday, allegedly uncovering steroids, knuckledusters and “paraphernalia relating to outlaw motorcycle gangs”.

Steven Mark Balshaw, a 46-year-old Mollymook man, was arrested at his home and taken to Ulladulla Police Station where he was charged with goods suspected stolen in custody of another, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, and habitually consorting with convicted offenders after warning.

The Brutal South chapter member was arrested after ongoing investigations in the Bay and Basin area.

South Coast Police District detective inspector Scott Nelson said police spoke to a “number of people” during the raids and investigations were continuing.

“Our message to them today is, go to the tattoo shop and book yourself in to have it changed to the Futile South, because that’s our mission,” he said.

“This is their life. They choose not to integrate with the community and contribute.

“They think they belong to a group that gives them some sort of calling, but we know the rest of the community, down here on the coast, won’t accept that.”

Detective Inspector Nelson urged anyone with information to come forward to police.

He said police, alongside Strike Force Raptor, have been able to “disrupt” the groups activities over the last 12 months, adding traditional clubhouses are “becoming a thing of the past”.

“Until they get the message clear that we will continue these activities - knocking on their doors - until they are rendered impotent.”

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Milton Local Court on February 11.
