A South Coast man has been charged after he allegedly threw a molotov cocktail on his neighbour’s lawn during a neighbourhood dispute.

Police say a man rode a bicycle past a Greenwell Point home at 8pm on Sunday before he allegedly threw a lit container of accelerant into the front yard of a home.

The container exploded and set fire to the grass before the flames extinguished themselves.

South Coast Police District officers attended and investigated the incident before they attended another Greenwell Point home and arrested a 40-year-old man.

Police were told an altercation had occurred between the man and his neighbour earlier in the day and the man was taken to Nowra police station.

He was charged with stalking and intimidation, common assault, and intentionally causing a fire and being reckless about its spread.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to face Nowra Local Court on January 10, 2020.
