A former Campbelltown cop is set to face trial in the NSW District Court, accused of passing confidential information to an alleged member of a major drug syndicate.

Dennis Hoyn faced Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday, where he was committed to stand trial in the District Court, after pleading not guilty to several counts of holder of public office misconduct him or herself.

It will be alleged Hoyn was working as a senior constable with Campbelltown Highway Patrol when he gave “confidential police information” to Goran Despotovski, who was allegedly involved in a multimillion-dollar Illawarra cannabis syndicate.

Court documents allege Hoyn accessed “restricted data” held in a computer and handed it to persons “not entitled” to receive it.

It is alleged Hoyn also released restricted data about four different cars to different people who were not members of the police force.

Hoyn, whose employment with the NSW Police Force has been terminated, has maintained his innocence since first appearing in court. He pleaded not guilty to the charges today.

Goran Despotovski also appeared at Wollongong Local Court via audiovisual link on Wednesday, after he and his partner, Lilly Despatoska, were arrested during raids at their Wollongong apartment last December.

Goran Despotovski was hit with 45 charges relating to the supply of a prohibited drug, after police alleged he participated in a multimillion-dollar cannabis syndicate involving Vietnamese crime figures.

Police allege the couple is responsible for supplying cannabis to associates around the Illawarra, with a street value of up to $2.8 million.

During the December search on the couple’s home, police allegedly located cannabis, $4,000 cash and drug paraphernalia.

Lilly Despatoska was granted bail at an earlier date, while Goran Despotovski remains behind bars. The pair are yet to enter any pleas to the charges against them.

Hoyn’s case will be set down for trial when he appears in Wollongong District Court on November 12, while Lilly and Goran are expected to enter pleas at their next appearance on November 13.
