The owner of a Wollongong grocery store has been charged with indecent assault and sexual touching, after a Facebook post about the alleged offences went viral.
Police arrested and charged 68-year-old Mansoor Mehrkhavari, the owner of the Illawarra Persian Hub, last Friday, after a young woman created a post about her alleged encounter with the man.
Police will allege that Mehrkhavari acted indecently toward three different women inside his Crown Street supermarket on separate occasions between 2016 and 2019.
In September 2016, a 40-year-old woman entered the store, where police will allege she was grabbed by Mehrkhavari, who attempted to kiss her and touched her inappropriately.
In April 2018, a 17-year-old girl entered the store where police will allege she too was approached by Mehrkhavari who touched her inappropriately.
Police will also allege that earlier this month, a 24-year-old woman entered the store and was approached by the same man, who grabbed and held her while attempting to kiss her.
The three incidents were reported to police in October 2019, following the Facebook post about Mehrkhavari’s alleged behaviour.
Officers attached to Wollongong Police District launched an investigation and arrested the 68-year-old at Illawarra Persian Hub on October 25.
Mehrkhavari was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was later charged with two counts of indecent assault and sexually touch another person without consent.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court on November 26
