Australia's wildest fraudsters: The biggest and boldest cons

The Instagram-famous wife of an Illawarra builder accused alongside his twin brother of an alleged multimillion-dollar fraud has returned to social media for the first time since her husband was charged.

Twin brothers Elie and Charbel Douna were living the high life with their wives Emily and Sara until a police investigation resulted in the property developers being charged with fraud-related offences.

Police will allege the twins, who direct Albion Park-based building company LuxLiving, used false documents in efforts to obtain a $14.7m loan to construct properties in their 92-home Avondale estate Avoca Park.

Detective Chief Inspector Glen Broadhead said at the time police would allege the brothers submitted 10 legitimate sale contracts and nine false ones in order to secure the sizeable loan.

Elie’s wife Emily and Charbel’s wife Sara are not accused of any wrongdoing.

Sara Douna locked down her social media after the charges against the twin brothers went public on February 18, while Instagram influencer Emily was also uncharacteristically silent online.

However, Emily Douna has broken her posting drought with a series of new happy snaps of her and her husband.

On March 7 Mrs Douna posted a cheerful family portrait with Elie Douna and their children in colour-coordinated outfits at Thirroul Greek restaurant Para.

A week later Mrs Douna posted a loved-up couple shot with her husband after the pair attended a wedding.

Mrs Douna wore a sought-after two-piece outfit by Australian designer Bec and Bridge accessorised with a Chanel handbag which can retail for up to $8030.

An Instagram story post at a different family event prominently features a Dior Mini Lady Dior handbag which retails for $4300 USD – or $5550 Australian dollars.

Mrs Douna also enjoyed a girls’ weekend with friends at the Crown in Barangaroo, showing off the lush circular indoor pool and dinner at the hotel’s Woodcut restaurant.

The brothers are due to face Port Kembla Local Court for the first time over the grave allegations in April.

Their real estate agent associate Ben Feltham, of Right Choice Real Estate in Albion Park, was also charged with allegedly publishing false sales contracts as part of the scheme and will face court alongside the brothers.
