OVERDEVELOPMENT and infrastructure across the Hornsby Shire are some of the key election issues candidates aim to tackle at the polls on March 23.
Nine candidates from a range of political backgrounds are vying for support from residents, convinced your vote lies on commitments in our roads, hospitals and rail systems.
Other election priorities include providing more green spaces, giving planning power back to local councillors and the preservation of the “Bushland Shire”.
When it comes to the candidates themselves, voters will be spoiled from career politicians, former and current Hornsby councillors and even grassroots advocates who decided to throw their hat into the ring.
To give voters the best understanding of candidates commitments, political history and party affiliation, The Advocate has quizzed all potential Hornsby MPs on what makes them tick and why they deserve your vote.
Incumbent Hornsby state Liberal MP Matt Kean will face of against Labor Party candidate Katie Gompertz, Keep Sydney Open candidate Hayden Gray, independent and former Hornsby councillor Mick Gallagher, One Nation candidate Emma Eros, The Greens’ Joe Nicita, Sustainable Australia’s Justin Thomas, independent John Murray and Australian Conservative Andrew Isaac on March 23.
