NSW Election 2019: Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai candidates announced

Sitting Liberal MPs on Sydney’s upper north shore will face a small army of candidates from a range of political parties on Election Day.

Hornsby state Liberal MP and candidate Matt Kean will face a small army of candidates from a range of political parties on Election Day.

The Liberal candidate, who has held the very safe liberal seat since 2011, will go up against a total of eight other candidates when Hornsby residents go to the polls this month.

Labor Party candidate Katie Gompertz, Keep Sydney Open candidate Hayden Gray, Independent and former Hornsby councillor Mick Gallagher, One Nation candidate Emma Eros, The Greens’ Joe Nicita, Sustainable Australia’s Justin Thomas, Independent John Murray and Australian Conservative Andrew Isaac are vying for votes on March 23.

The Liberal Party, which has controlled the seat since 1950, hold an 18.9 per cent margin in the blue ribbon electorate.

Sportsbet bookmakers have Mr Kean at $1.01 to retain his seat, with Labor’s Katie Gompertz paying $14 and an Independent paying $21.

KU-RING-GAI VOTES

In Ku-ring-gai, Liberal MP Alister Henskens will face candidates from the Liberal Democrats, Keep Sydney Open, Labor, Sustainable Australia and The Greens.

Liberal Democrat Mitchell Thomas, Keep Sydney Open Candidate Liam Blood, Labor’s Amanda Kelling, Sustainable Australia’s Mark Ferris and Greens candidate Qiu Yue (Viki) Zhang have thrown their hat in the ring for the very safe Liberal seat, which is held by a 23 per cent margin.

Bookmaker Sportsbet have Liberal candidate Alister Henskens paying $1.01 to return to the seat, while Labor’s Amanda Kelling is paying $14, while Liberal Democrat Mitchell Thomas is paying $41 to snatch the seat from the Liberal Party.
