North Turramurra Golf Course’s 6th hole nominated for Dream 18 competition

With it’s stunning elevated views of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park combined with its narrow fairway and tough green, the 6th hole at North Turramurra Golf Course is one of Sydney’s standout holes.

But where does it fit among Australia’s best?

The hole has been nominated for Inside Golf’s Dream 18 competition.

The par four hole has been nominated for golf magazine Inside Golf’s Dream 18 competition, which is looking to create a ‘dream course’ that includes the country’s very best 18 holes, in order from one to 18.

“It’s an extremely popular hole,” North Turramurra Golf Course golf pro James McDonald said.

The competition is looking to find Australia’s ‘dream’ 18-hole course.

“A lot of people make the comment ‘it’s my favourite hole, but I hate it.

“There’s been plenty of big and bad scores on the 6th.”

And for good reason.

“It’s not a long hole but it has a very narrow fairway leading to a really difficult green,” McDonald said.

“It’s surrounded by really beautiful scenery before you play but once you commence the difficulty really does set in quick.

“It just goes to show that a hole doesn’t need to be long to be long to be difficult.”

The hole is known for its picturesque views and deceptive difficulty.

Despite its deceptive difficulty, McDonald hopes that the hole’s beauty and popularity will help see it take its rightful place as the best sixth hole in Australia.

“I’d love to see it get through to the next stage,” he said.

“You could put that hole on any course in the world and it wouldn’t look out of place.”
