A semi-trailer driver allegedly tested positive to drugs during his arrest after allegedly cutting across a lane and almost colliding with an oncoming car after performing an illegal overtake.

Police allege the 41-year-old Padstow man drove dangerously – crossing unbroken lines on the Old Northern Road at Glenorie at about 1pm on June 23.

The alleged incident uploaded to Facebook by “BAD Driving Australia” - which police confirmed is of the alleged trucker - showed the moment a shocked driver had to make way for the incoming truck.

The dangerous act was committed on a two-lane road in Sydney’s north west,

Hills Police subsequently launched an investigation and arrested the man at a trucking company in Revesby at about 8am this morning.

The man allegedly tested positive to drugs and was charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.

He was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where a secondary test also allegedly returned a positive drug reading, which will undergo tests before any further charges are laid.

The driver was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 20 July 2023.

A 24-hour prohibition notice from driving was also served upon the man.
