Police have charged a man after allegedly seizing a loaded .22 bolt-action shortened firearm, ammunition, a military vest and cannabis at Westmead.
Saadallah Adham Jaber, 27, was arrested at 7am today following an investigation by Strike Force Hawk – which launched in 2021 – targeting organised criminal networks operating in Sydney.
Police will allege the firearm was stolen from a home in Girraween in 2014.
Investigators from Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad launched the search under the Firearms Prohibition Order at the man’s home in Westmead.
Police say the items will undergo forensic examination.
Jaber was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station, and charged with possessing a shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, acquiring a prohibited firearm-subject prohibition order, possessing ammunition without holding a license, acquiring ammunition subject to prohibition order, and possessing a prohibited drug.
Jaber was granted bail with the condition to live at Westmead and not to be with or contact any civilian prosecution witnesses.
