Developers behind one of the largest residential projects in northwest Sydney are proposing Castle Hill will “be the next Chatswood”, as the skyline of The Hills experiences a massive shake-up.

Work is well underway on two of five new $850 million masterplanned residential high-rise towers in the centre of the Castle Hill CBD, which will range from 19 to 23 storeys.

Toplace project marketing head, Sam Kandil said Castle Hill set to become a major new centre in Sydney northwest, describing it as “the next Chatswood in coming years”, thanks to a string of new developments — including his own.

“New infrastructure projects such as the $7.3 billion North West Rail link can develop an entire new suburban centre,” Mr Kandil said. “Castle Hill is only at the beginning of this transformation making it an opportune time for new homeowners to capitalise on future growth.”

The Skyview development from Toplace, located off Pennant St and Old Castle Hill Rd, will including 962 apartments on completion — which is expected in July, 2021.

Social demographer Mark McCrindle said the push from developers to see Castle Hill become the next Chatswood could be a reality.

“Some of the characteristics of the Castle Hill demographics are changing to be more in line with Chatswood now,” Mr McCrindle said.

“The densification of Castle Hill is growing, meaning it is becoming more and more like neighbouring Chatswood.”

Mr McCrindle said both suburbs already share two types of demographics — densified and detached homes.

“The question is, will Castle Hill look like Chatswood with a skyline to match?” he said.

“I would say the suburbs have two differences, distance to the CBD is one, while green space and protected bushland tracks are another.

“Chatswood has had better transport modes for a lot longer than Castle Hill. The Chatswood CBD was ready made and designed for densified living, however Castle Hill is retrofitting that to suit the Sydney Metro northwest.
